Merryall Center for the Arts Receives “Pride in the Hills” Grant from the Connecticut Community Foundation

The grant recognizes the Merryall Center for its support of LGBTQ+ people in the greater Waterbury and Litchfield Hills area

New Milford, Conn. (May 24, 2022) – The Merryall Center, est. 1951, recently received a grant from the Connecticut Community Foundation Pride in the Hills Fund. The Fund awards grants to entities whose work supports, encourages, and celebrates the LGBTQ+ community in the greater Litchfield hills and Waterbury area. The Merryall Center has championed all peoples since its inception, having been founded with a mission to create an open and inclusive space for the people of New Milford.

The Connecticut Community Foundation established the Pride in the Hills Fund as part of its mission to create and nurture an inclusive, diverse, and vibrant community throughout and beyond Litchfield County and central Connecticut. The Fund awards grants to organizations operating under the 501(c)(3) classification, those sponsored by a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and charitable organizations that can accept tax-deductible donations, such as educational, religious, and public institutions.

For the past several years, the Merryall Center has celebrated June with LGBTQ+ events. Merryall Pride 2022 will include Nick Petrone, Namoli Brennet, and Violet Willows, three artists who are representative of the LGBTQ+ community. These events reflect the Center’s dedication to the enrichment of the lives of the people of New Milford and to fostering a community that is welcoming to all.
