Sound Tigers rally falls short as Wilkes-Barre/Scranton takes 1-0 lead in the series

Trevor Smith scored a goal and an assist last night in Game 1 of the Sound Tigers’ opening round series against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins but the Sound Tigers’ come-from-behind attempt fell short as the Penguins took the first game by the score of 3-2. Rob Hennigar scored the Sound Tigers’ only other tally.

Okposo and Hillen assigned to Sound Tigers

Okposo and Hillen set to play this weekend as Sound Tigers open Calder Cup Playoffs at Nassau Coliseum

The New York Islanders have announced today that forward Kyle Okposo and defenseman Jack Hillen have been reassigned to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League. Okposo and Hillen are scheduled to dress for the Sound Tigers this weekend when they open up their East Division semifinal series at the Nassau Coliseum versus the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. Game One is this Friday night, April 17th at 7:30 p.m. with Game Two scheduled for Saturday, April 18th at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are currently on sale for both games at www.soundtigers.com.

Sound Tigers 4, Falcons 3

Joensuu scores a goal and an assist to put Sound Tigers in a tie for 1st place in the Eastern Conference

In only his first professional season, Jesse Joensuu hit the 20-goal mark last night and also added an assist to lead the Sound Tigers to a 4-3 victory over the Springfield Falcons. Micheal Haley, Jon Sim and Junior Lessard had the other three tallies for the Sound Tigers. Nathan Lawson was in goal for the Sound Tigers and stopped 26 or the 29 shots he faced to earn his 17th win of the season. Ryan Potulny scored twice and Shane Willis recorded his fifth goal of the season to round out the scoring for the Falcons. The Sound Tigers now pull into a two-way tie with the Hershey Bears for the top spot in the Eastern Conference with a record of 48-23-3-5, giving them 104 points.

Sound Tigers sign Duncan to A.T.O.

Former Hobey Baker winner signs Amateur Contract with Sound Tigers

The Bridgeport Sound Tigers announced recently that they have signed forward Ryan Duncan to an Amateur Tryout Contract. Duncan joins the Sound Tigers after completing his senior season at the University of North Dakota, skating for the Fighting Sioux. The Calgary, ALTA native produced impressive numbers over his four year career at UND, totaling 85 goals and 87 assists for 172 points in 175 career games played.

Sound Tigers 4, Bears 3 (OT)

Bentivoglio’s tally 25 seconds into overtime gives Sound Tigers 4-3 victory over Hershey

It took only 25 seconds into the overtime session for Sound Tiger forward Sean Bentivoglio to complete a 4-3 comeback win over the Hershey Bears. Three unanswered goals starting in the second period from Jesse Joensuu and then Tyler Haskins in the third set the stage for Bentivoglio’s game-winning goal in the extra session. Peter Mannino was in net for the Sound Tigers, stopping 29 shots to earn his 15th win of the season.
