Excitement has been building all month in anticipation of a major community event that recently garnered the support of a well-known charitable organization. The Stew Leonard III Childrens Charities is the title sponsor of the YMCA of Norwalk 19th Annual Golf Outing to be held on Monday, May 12th at the Silvermine Golf Club in Norwalk.

Event Chair Gloria Touger says that response has been very positive. In addition to people signing up to play golf, a number of individuals and businesses have stepped forward to take sponsorship positions. For the Hole-in-One sponsorships, golfers have the opportunity to win a new Lexus from Lexus of Westport while Seligson Properties is offering a $10,000 cash prize on one of Silvermines beautiful par three holes.

Touger also notes the significant support of Stew Leonard III Childrens Charities as title sponsor. The YMCA of Norwalk has been fortunate to enjoy the ongoing generosity of this charity. Over the years, Stew Leonard III Childrens Charities has provided grants to fund YMCA programs that deliver on their mission to promote safe and responsible growth and development in kids through nutritional awareness and water safety.

Kicking off at 11:30 am with lunch, the Golf Outing begins at 12:30 pm with a shotgun start/scramble format. The event wraps up with cocktails and dinner plus presentation of awards and a silent auction.

The Golf Outing is a major fundraising event for the YMCA of Norwalk and the first of many community events leading up to the organizations 80th birthday celebration planned for October 24th and 25th. The proceeds from the Golf Outing will be used to provide financial assistance to people with limited resources, to deliver programs that focus on caring, honesty, respect and responsibility and to maintain a safe and fully accredited facility, according to CEO Cynthia Armijo.

Armijo encourages people to register as soon as possible. Player slots are filling up fast and I dont want anyone to miss this opportunity to spend time together in a convivial atmosphere. Everyone is welcome, whether theyre a first-rate golfer or a duffer, so we hope folks will come out to support the YMCA of Norwalk. Even if they dont play, they can participate in this worthy cause as an event sponsor.
