DANBURY, CT – The Danbury Mad Hatters of the Eastern Professional Hockey League (EPHL) have announced the signings of Canadian Junior players Calvin Fiddler and Joseph Cook, both from the La Ronge Ice Wolves of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL). As per club policy, the terms of the deals are not disclosed.

“Calvin and Joe come highly recommended to me from Jon Mirasty. They played together for La Ronge in the SJHL for the last few years and really compliment each other well,” General Manager of Hockey Operations Brendan Tedstone said.

Calvin Fiddler is a 21 year old from Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan who can play both forward and defense. In 55 games last season with La Ronge, Calvin amassed 19 goals, 22, assists, and 166 penalty minutes to record his best season of his Junior career. In 3 seasons with the Ice Wolves, Calvin has played 153 games recording 33 goals, 42 assists, and 274 penalty minutes.

“Calvin is a gritty player that plays both forward and defense with skill. He had a good offensive season last season as a D man. I look for him to continue his scoring ways with us this season,” Tedstone said

Joseph (Joe) Cook is a 20 year old forward from La Ronge, Saskatchewan. In 35 games last season with La Ronge, Joe had 3 goals, 1 assist, and 91 penalty minutes. In his previous season he amassed career highs in games played (55), goals (6), points (12), and penalty minutes (251). In 4 seasons with the Ice Wolves, Joe has played 132 games recording 11 goals, 14 assists, and 545 penalty minutes.

“Joe is a kid that can play hockey a lot better than his numbers show,” said Tedstone. “He is a strong skater and plays with an edge for sure. I look forward to having him on a line that skates hard and hits everything that moves.”

Both players will be attending a AA training camp before coming to us in Danbury.

The Mad Hatters are scheduled to begin training camp on October 22, and will play 50 games in their first season, with opening night scheduled for November 1.
