The Long Island Ducks were defeated by the Bridgeport Bluefish on Friday 6-0 before a past-capacity crowd of 7,284 at Citibank Park. The crowd set a new single-game attendance record for Citibank Park, beating the previous record which had been established just one day ago.

Eric DuBose (4-2) earned the win with seven shutout innings, allowing just three hits and striking out nine. Franklin Perez and Derrick Ellison preserved the shutout with two scoreless innings of relief. Alay Soler (1-2) absorbed the loss, giving up six runs – five earned – on seven hits in six innings of work. Vic Darensbourg pitched three shutout innings out of the Ducks bullpen, surrendering just one base hit.

The Bluefish scored two runs in the first on a double by Ryan Bear. Jay Caligiuri’s fourth inning double extended the lead to 3-0. The Bridgeport offense capped its night with one more in the fifth and two in the sixth. Bear was 2-for-3 at the plate, while Henry Mateo was 2-for-4 with an RBI double. Jay Gibbons collected two hits, including one double, for the Ducks.

The Ducks continue their final series of the first half on Saturday against the Bridgeport Bluefish. Gametime is 7:05 p.m., and the Citibank park gates open at 6:05 p.m. Following the game, fans will be treated to a Grucci Fireworks Extravaganza, presented by Atlantic Auto Mall. The Ducks will once again don their 2008 red, white and blue patriotic jerseys, which will be auctioned off for charity throughout the month. Fans unable to attend the game can tune into all the action live on WNYG 1440 AM, WLIR 107.1 FM, or via streaming webcast at www.liducks.com, with Ducks radio voice Chris King calling the play-by-play.
