Bergstrom, Bluefish brilliant against sloppy 'stormers

Bridgeport, CT – June 28th – Bridgeport Bluefish starter Rafael Bergstrom (4-4) broke out of his three-start losing skid to post his best outing of the season in a 7-3 win over the Lancaster Barnstormers. The well-traveled righty threw seven innings and allowed just one run on one hit to earn the victory. The Bluefish snap a two game-losing streak to improve to 30-32 on the year.

Bergstrom took a no-hitter into the sixth inning before allowing a single to Lancaster shortstop Danny Gonzalez, who came around to score the lone 'Stormer run allowed by the Bridgeport starter. Bergstrom finished with three walks and three strikeouts on the evening. Gonzalez finished the game two-for-four with a run scored.

The Bluefish provided plenty of offense off Lancaster starter Josh Hall (3-1) to back the solid start by Bergstrom. They jumped out to a 7-0 lead off the Barnstormer righty by the time the fourth inning was over. A four-run second inning was aided by two of the three Lancaster errors. Branden Florence (run) drove in two runs on the night while Jesse Hoorelbeke (double, triple, RBI), Calvin Pickering (run, stolen base) and Alex Prieto (run) all posted two hits in the contest.

Hall lasted five innings and allowed seven runs (four earned) on eight hits with two walks and two strikeouts to suffer his first loss of the year. Matt LeCroy drove in two runs on his one-for-three night for the 'Stormers.

The Bluefish looks to build on their solid victory when they turn to Eric DuBose (2-2) to take the series tomorrow afternoon. Lancaster sends Yamel Guevara (1-1) to the bump to oppose the Bridgeport southpaw. Kids' Day will begin at 2:05 P.M. tomorrow where all kids are welcome to come run the bases following the game.
