Stamford Mayor’s Multicultural Council Announces Details of 2020’s Afternoon of Jazz

STAMFORD, CT - The Mayor’s Multicultural Council announced the date and details of this year’s “Afternoon of Jazz” — a free concert held every year in Stamford celebrating local diversity and the global appeal of jazz music.

Live music will be performed by local jazz favorites, Cookie Thomas (vocal); Maria Tiscia’s Rio Bound (Brazilian jazz) with David Oliver (pianist), Geoff Morrow (bassist), Joey Bracchitta (percussionist) and Maria Tiscia (vocals). Michael Nunziante and Brendan Ronan’s Alpacka Band plays dual acoustic guitars featuring bottleneck slide delta blues among others. Stamford High School Jazz Ensemble with Director Brendan Milkalko complete the program for the third “MMC Afternoon of Jazz.”

This year’s Afternoon of Jazz takes place on Sunday, March 8th, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation, 20 Forest Street, across Latham Park in downtown Stamford.
