The Norwalk Arts Commission, in partnership with the Rowayton Arts Center is hosting this year’s SLOW Art Day program on Saturday, April 8th from 10 AM – 12 PM at the Rowayton Arts Center. Riad Miah, an award-winning New York artist and educator, will lead participants in a conversation about artwork he judged for RAC’s Abstraction – Abstracts exhibit*. The SLOW art experience offers an intimate, guided look at just a few pieces, along with engaging dialog over light refreshments. Space is limited, and advance registration is required with a $5 per person fee. Tickets available https://norwalkslowart17.eventbrite.com

According to the Slow Art Day organizers, this international program has grown from 16 museums and galleries in 2009 to more than 190 worldwide in 2016. The Mystic Museum of Art and South Windsor’s, Wood Memorial Library & Museum are among the Connecticut organizations participating this year. The mission of the all-volunteer event is “to help more people discover for themselves the joy of looking at and loving art.” As Henry David Thoreau said, “It’s not what you look at that matters, it’s what you see.”

*Opening reception for the Abstraction exhibit is Sunday, April 2, 4-6pm. (Receptions are free and open to the public at RAC.)

The Rowayton Arts Center is located at 145 Rowayton Avenue, Rowayton, CT www.rowaytonarts.org
