Former Stamford Mayor and potential candidate for Governor Dan Malloy recently announced the formal support of the New London Police Union (AFSCME Local 724), the President of the New London Firefighters Union Rocco Basilica, State Senator Andrea Stillman, members of the Connecticut House of Representatives, and a number of other local elected officials and political leaders from New London, Groton, Montville, East Lyme and Waterford.

Malloy has been travelling the state in recent months meeting with town committees, local businesses, workers and community leaders to discuss his vision for the future of Connecticut.

A full list of those endorsing Malloy follows:

Labor:

- New London Police Union, AFSCME Local 724

Said Local President Darrin O'Mara, "Today, the New London Police Union- PAC is proud to support Dan Malloy. After years of failed leadership in Hartford we need a fresh approach to change direction with new ideas to get the job done. The 90 men and women of the New London Police Union are tired of the divisive politics in Hartford – we need a new governor in office to challenge the status quo and get things done.”

- Rocco Basilica, President, New London Firefighters Union

General Assembly Members:

- Andrea Stillman, State Senator, Deputy Majority Leader, 20th District:

Said Stillman, “I’m supporting Dan because he has the best track record of success in the areas where Connecticut is falling behind: creating jobs, balancing budgets, holding the line on taxes, and building affordable housing. I believe he’s our best shot at winning back the Governor’s seat and putting Connecticut back on track.”

- Ernest Hewett, State Representative, Deputy Majority Leader, 39th District

- Tom Reynolds, State Representative, Assistant Majority Leader, 42nd District

- Betsy Ritter, State Representative, 38th District

Said Ritter, “I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Dan for some time. I’ve seen what he’s accomplished in Stamford, and the hurdles he’s had to overcome along the way. Connecticut is in trouble, and we need someone like Dan Malloy with the resolve and vision to help right the ship and start creating jobs and fixing our broken economy.”

- Kevin Ryan, State Representative, 139th District

Said Ryan, “There’s a reason that people from every corner of Connecticut and every walk of life are coming out in support of Dan – he’s the Democratic Party’s best positioned candidate for winning in November. He’s the candidate with the track record and the message to take on the Republican Party this fall.”

- Diana Urban, State Representative, 43rd District

Said Urban, “Connecticut’s next Governor is going to inherit an enormous budget deficit. Dan Malloy will be well-suited for that challenge – a strong proponent of responsible and transparent government, Dan has a track record in Stamford of setting goals and making sure that every dollar is used wisely.”
