BCFC announces debates for state and national offices

Stamford, CT - The Business Council of Fairfield County, and its cosponsors, have announced a series of candidates’ debates for the offices of Attorney General, US Senator and the US 4th Congressional District.

On October 7, The Bridgeport Regional Business Council, The Business Council of Fairfield County and the Greater Norwalk Chamber of Commerce will co-sponsor a candidates’ debate for US Senator with Democratic candidate Richard Blumenthal and Republican candidate Linda McMahon. The debate will be moderated by Tom Appleby, News Director and Anchor, News 12 Connecticut and the candidates will field questions from a panel of journalists. The debate will be held at the Continental Manor in Norwalk, CT. Registration and breakfast begins at 7:45am. Seats are available for $45 for members and $60 for non-members.

The Attorney General candidates’ debate will be held on October 20th with Republican candidate Martha Dean and Democratic candidate George Jepsen, sponsored by The Business Council of Fairfield County and the Fairfield County Bar Association. The debate will be held at UConn Stamford. Registration and continental breakfast begin at 8:15am and the debate will run from 9:00-10:00am. Seats are available for $25 for members and $35 for non-members.

On October 28, The Business Council of Fairfield County and the Fairfield County Bar Association will sponsor a candidates’ debate with Republican candidate Dan Debicella and Democratic candidate Jim Himes. The debate will be held at UConn Stamford. Registration and continental breakfast begin at 8:15am and the debate will run from 9:00-10:00am. Seats are available for $25 for members and $35 for non-members.

The 2010 Debate Series is a component of The Business Council’s DEMOCRACY WORKS! Initiative. DEMOCRACY WORKS! 2010 includes events, publications, web-based resources and an e-mail campaign intended to provide the information and encouragement needed to make participation in the political process more feasible and effective. DEMOCRACY WORKS! 2010 is underwritten by a grant from Purdue Pharma L.P.
