Rob Polley Joins Zeus To Impact Younger Teams

Returning to his swim roots, popular swim instructor and youth coach Rob Polley joins the Zeus Swim Team of Norwalk in a newly created position of coach to its youngest team members. Polley, an original Zeus swimmer under the legendary coach Betty Philcox, brings his very popular teach-kids-to-swim-while-loving-to-swim instruction style to a team that has been exploding at its entry levels. "Rob will provide a great boost to our program," said Head Coach Omar Cruz. “His large knowledge base and affable work style will no doubt create a positive experience for our swimmers who are new and just getting wet with this sport.”

Polley’s primary coach responsibility will be to direct the Future Stars team; a collection of early level swimmers typically between six to eight years of age. He will also assist with Rocket Squad (eight to nine year olds) and occasionally the Age Group team (nine to 12 year olds).
Rob Polley is a native and a life long resident of Norwalk. He swam for Zeus when it was called the Norwalk Aquatic Club Seahawks. He also swam on the St. Thomas School swim team, the Ascension Beach Club swim team, the Norwalk High School swim team, the Southern Connecticut State University Swim team, and the Connecticut Masters swim team. Rob has swum across Long Island Sound (once) and around Manhattan Island (four times).

Rob began coaching as a "swimmer-coach" of the Ascension Beach Club Swim team. He continued coaching with the Norwalk BEST (Board of Education Swim Team) program, and was later both an assistant coach and the head coach of the Norwalk Aquatic Club Seahawks program. He has operated SwimAmerica for the past 15 years. Through SwimAmerica, he and his staff have taught thousands of children to swim. Rob was also the race director for Swim Across The Sound for 4 years. Rob is recognized as a "level 2" coach by the American Swimming Coaches Association.
Rob is also an elementary school computer teacher. In his spare time, Rob likes to exercise, read and travel. He lives in Norwalk with his wife and stepson.

The ZEUS Swim Team is a talented group of 155 competitive, young swimmers who are today's representatives of a long-established swimming program in Norwalk, Connecticut. Its four-level team structure creates a positive and challenging environment for swimmers of all ages, abilities and interest levels. Each level is managed by a professional coaching staff that has more than 60 years of experience in the sport. The ZEUS Swim Team is a fully sanctioned program of USA Swimming.
