DANBURY, CT – March 12, 2010 - Pierre Saldinger, M.D., Chairman of the Department of Surgery is pleased to announce the appointment of orthopedic surgeon Daniel Fish, M.D. as Chief of the Section of Orthopedic Surgery at Danbury Hospital. Dr. Fish joined the Danbury Hospital Medical Staff in 1993. He succeeds Ronald Tietjen, M.D. who served as chief of orthopedics for many years.

Dr. Fish, a partner at Orthopaedic Specialists of Connecticut, completed a Harvard Medical School fellowship in sports medicine where he worked as an assistant team physician for the New England Patriots and the Boston Bruins. His experience in sports medicine began during his internship and four-year residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where he worked with the school’s Division I athletic teams. He received his undergraduate degree from St. Lawrence University and earned his medical degree from the University of Rochester.

Dr. Fish is published in numerous medical journals and is currently a principal reviewer for The American Journal of Sports Medicine and a consultant reviewer forThe Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery.

Board certified in both orthopedic surgery and orthopedic sports medicine, Dr. Fish is also a member of the Connecticut Orthopedic Society, the Fairfield County Medical Association anda Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. His special interests include arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, elbow, knee and ankle, and treatingsports-related injuries.
