Sound Tigers 2008-09 schedule released

The Bridgeport Sound Tigers 2008-09 schedule has officially been released.

For the fourth straight year, the Sound Tigers will start their season on the road. They will faceoff against the Philadelphia Phantoms on Oct. 10, game-time is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. The Sound Tigers’ open at home on Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. against the Albany River Rats. The game will feature new player introductions, an updated version of the “Born in Bridgeport” opening video and new intermission games.

The Sound Tigers will host their annual Kids Opening Day the following night, Sunday, Oct. 19 at 4 p.m. when the Phantoms pay their first visit to Bridgeport. Kids can expect mascots from the local area to attend, guest public address duties for three lucky fans and giveaways. Following the game, all kids in attendance will have an opportunity to score a goal on the Sound Tigers ice.

The team's "Cool Fun 101" game, which stresses the importance of young kids receiving a quality education partnered with hockey, is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 5 at 11 a.m. against the defending Eastern Conference Champion Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. All students who attend will receive a booklet with Sound Tiger questions pertaining to geography, math and other school subjects.

On Tuesday, Nov. 11 and Wednesday, Nov. 12, the Sound Tigers will travel to Canada to take on the Binghamton Senators. The Tuesday game will take place in St. John’s, NL at the Mile One Center. Both teams will travel to Summerside, PEI to skate at the Credit Union Place the next night.

For the first time since 2002-03, the Sound Tigers will travel to Texas to play the Houston Aeros on Sunday, November 16 at 4:05 p.m. Two nights later, the team will travel across the “Lone-Star State” to San Antonio to skate against the Rampage at 7 p.m.

The schedule is jam packed with inter-state rivalry games between the Sound Tigers and Hartford Wolf Pack. The teams will skate 10 times against each other, with five contests at the Arena at Harbor Yard.
