Sound Tigers sign Goers to PTO

BRIDGEPORT, CT - The Bridgeport Sound Tigers announced today they have signed defenseman Barry Goers to a professional tryout contract (PTO).

Goers, 25, earns his first AHL stint after recording three goals and 20 assists in 43 games with the Las Vegas Wranglers of the ECHL this season. The Ivyland, Pa. native has played his entire professional career with Las Vegas, totaling 10 goals and 43 assists in 113 games.

Prior to making his professional debut at the end of the 2009-10 season, the 5-9, 175-pound defenseman played four seasons of collegiate hockey at UMass Lowell, posting five goals and 37 assists in 133 games.

The Sound Tigers continue their six-game homestand this weekend with contests on Saturday, Feb. 11 at 7:00 p.m. against the Springfield Falcons and Sunday, Feb. 12 against the Connecticut Whale. Saturday night is Sikorsky Hockey & Heroes Night, where all active duty military will get in for free with their ID card, and $3 of every ticket bought at the box office that day will benefit the Wounded Warriors Project.

Sunday's game is Rotary Night, where Rotarians from around Connecticut and New York will gather in support of their End Polio Now campaign. For information on these nights, call the Sound Tigers at 203-345-2300.
