ROCHESTER, NY - The Bridgeport Sound Tigers (35-18-2-1), proud AHL affiliate of the New York Islanders, went back and forth with the Rochester Americans (23-32-0-2) on Saturday, but suffered a 4-3 overtime loss in their final trip to The Blue Cross Arena this season.

Josh Winquist, Ross Johnston and Michael Dal Colle each found the back of the net, while Taylor Fedun won it for the Amerks at 1:12 of the extra session. Bridgeport finished its season series with Rochester 3-0-1-0.

Winquist capitalized on the Sound Tigers’ first power play of the game to give Bridgeport an early 1-0 lead at 3:02 of the opening frame. With Paul Geiger in the box for high-sticking, Tanner Fritz danced his way down the left wing to create space and slid a cross-ice pass to Winquist at the back post. The third-year forward proceeded to hammer a one-time shot past Linus Ullmark’s glove for his 11th tally this season.

Less than four minutes later, former Hartford Wolf Pack captain Mat Bodie tied the game 1-1 with his first goal in an Amerks’ uniform. Fedun set up Bodie at the doorstep where the defenseman, who was traded to the Buffalo Sabres organization before Wednesday’s NHL trade deadline, beat Jaroslav Halak blocker side at the 6:57 mark.

The Sound Tigers bounced back at the 13:03 mark when Johnston’s logged his sixth goal this season. After Ullmark turned back several chances, Ryan Pulock forced a centering feed to Johnston in the low slot where he scored on a redirection past the goaltender’s left leg.

The pendulum continued to swing at 6:16 of the second period when Kyle Bonis tied the game at 2-2 with his seventh goal of the season. Bonis gathered the puck and fired a shot on target that Halak deflected down, but it trickled behind him and across the goal line just before Halak could reach back with the paddle.

Dal Colle lifted Bridgeport to a 3-2 advantage after 40 minutes when he beat Ullmark with less than 21 seconds remaining in the period. Fritz created the opportunity by racing down the right and centering a pass from the circle, which allowed Dal Colle to charge the crease and deflect home his 12th goal of the season at the 19:39 mark.

Bodie pushed the contest to overtime with his second goal of the night in the final six minutes, the latter coming on a five-on-three power play at 14:03 of the third. With Jon Landry in the box for holding and Ben Holmstrom joining him for tripping, Fedun and Cal O’Reilly set up Bodie in the slot for a forehand shot inside the right post.

In overtime, Fedun capped a three-point effort (one goal, two assists) with the game-winning goal at the 1:12 mark, his fifth of the season. Following a blocked shot in the Amerks’ zone, Cole Schneider gathered the puck and charged the other way before dropping a pass for Fedun in the slot. He placed a forehand blast low, glove side, on Halak for the 4-3 final.

The Sound Tigers finished the game 1-for-3 on the power play and 4-for-5 on the penalty kill. Halak (14-2-3) made 40 saves on 44 shots, while Ullmark turned back 13 chances.

Rochester outshot Bridgeport 44-16.
