Stamford Hospital hosts "Celebrating Healthy Hearts"

STAMFORD, CT - Stamford Hospital will hold an informative heart health event on Saturday, March 10, from 9:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the Tully Health Center, 32 Strawberry Hill Court in Stamford. "Celebrating Healthy Hearts: Prevention and Treatments of Heart Disease" will address medical, interventional and surgical treatments for heart disease.

A panel of Stamford Hospital's physicians and cardiology experts will discuss the disease as well as prevention and treatment options. The following physicians will participate in the panel:

* Dr. Steven Horowitz, F.A.C.C, Division of Cardiology Chief, Professor of Clinical Medicine at Columbia University (Moderator)

* Dr. Michael Coady, MPH, Chief & Program Director of Cardiovascular Surgery

* Dr. Evelyn Cusack, Medical Cardiologist

* Dr. Ted Portnay, F.A.C.C, Interventional Cardiologist

In addition, the American Heart Association's (AHA) "Faces of Heart Gallery," an inspiring photo exhibition of 11 stories of courage, strength and hope in the face of cardiovascular diseases and stroke, will be unveiled during the event. This traveling exhibit, sponsored by Stamford Hospital, will be featured at venues throughout Westchester and Fairfield Counties so that others may learn from and be inspired by the stories. With the "Faces of Heart Gallery," Stamford Hospital and the AHA strive to educate community members about keeping their hearts healthy.

A number of health screenings will be available during the event, including: non-fasting cholesterol and glucose, blood pressure, cardiac/stroke risk assessments and pulmonary function tests.
