Mosaic believes in inclusion and is participating in National Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month (NIDDA) in March. This observance reminds us to recognize people with disabilities as valuable, contributing members of our communities.
Mosaic in Connecticut is contacting our local legislators and passing on the news to encourage others to recognize National Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month and to promote inclusion.
“Inclusion is about all of us. It is our mission at Mosaic to promote inclusion and involvement among the entire community,” said Andrea Ferrucci Executive Director of Mosaic in Connecticut. “You can promote inclusion by inviting people with disabilities to participate in your community activities and civic organizations, or by giving a gift of time or money to support people with disabilities.”
Throughout the month, many events are held across the country to recognize the abilities and talents of people with disabilities. Communities hold special events, civic organizations welcome guest
speakers to discuss the field of disabilities, congregations include special litanies in their worship services, and schools provide educational programs for children.
“People with developmental disabilities desire to be involved in their communities as neighbors, friends and co-workers, contributing through their talents and abilities,” said Linda Timmons, President an CEO of Mosaic. “Our communities are strengthened by their gifts.”
Mosaic in Connecticut serves 102 people with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout the state. For more information contact Kerry Burrows 860-632-2814 or kerry.burrows@mosaicinfo.org.
