Hartford Healthcare appoints General Councel

Michele Bush, Esq. has been appointed Senior Vice President and General Counsel for Hartford Healthcare and Hartford Hospital. Ms. Bush comes to Hartford from the Chicago office of Miller Canfield, an international law firm. There, she held the role of Principal, focusing on general corporate and health care issues, including transactional, regulatory and governance matters.

Prior to joining Miller Canfield, Ms. Bush was General Counsel for the Board of Education in Rockford, Ill. and for the General Board of Pension and Health Benefits in Evanston. She was previously Associate General Counsel with Advocate Health Care based in Oak Brook, Ill., one of the leading fully-integrated health systems in the U.S. with more than 200 sites of care.

Ms. Bush is the recipient of numerous employee achievement awards for quality and service from various clients, organizations and constituents. She was appointed to the Illinois State Board of Investment by Gov. Pat Quinn and was elected to the governing Board of Trustees of La Rabida Children’s Hospital in Chicago.

Ms. Bush was awarded a juris doctor degree from Northwestern University School of Law and a master of laws degree in health law from Loyola University Chicago School of Law, Institute for Health Law. She is proficient in Spanish and is active in community, civic and cultural affairs. She resides in Hartford.
