The Alzheimer’s Association reports that 5.4 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's disease and one in eight older Americans has Alzheimer's disease. According to the Connecticut Alzheimer’s Association, an estimated 2,000 new cases of Alzheimer’s were reported between 2000 and 2010. Atria Life Guidance neighborhoods are designed specifically for residents living with Alzheimer’s disease or other memory impairments. “With an aging population and Alzheimer's disease on the rise, memory care is a growing need in Connecticut and across the nation,” said John Hartmayer, regional vice president for Atria Senior Living. “Atria Stamford’s new Life Guidance neighborhood provides seniors living with memory impairments an opportunity to live in a comfortable setting designed with dignity and safety in mind. This expansion helps us continue to provide the highest quality of life possible for older people living with Alzheimer’s disease, and also enables us to be a resource for families who are trying to navigate what can often be a difficult journey.” Atria Stamford is currently home to approximately 145 residents, and employs more than 115 full-time and part-time staff members. In addition to Atria Stamford, Atria has added 12 other new Life Guidance memory care neighborhoods to its portfolio since 2007, with another opening later this year and others planned for the future. Atria Senior Living is one of the nation’s leading providers of independent living, assisted living and memory care services. Home to more than 13,000 older Americans in 27 states, Atria communities provide respectful, quality services designed to promote independence and help seniors enjoy a fulfilling lifestyle. Atria’s goal is to provide environments where older people thrive, where loneliness and isolation are forgotten and where families have confidence that their loved ones are secure and fulfilled.
