Winter break camps at Fairfield Museum

Kids have fun at Fairfield Museum programs during winter break
Looking for fun things to do over winter break? The Fairfield Museum and History Center offers a great variety of fun activities for kids of all ages. The week kicks off with a Valentine’s Day Tea on Sunday, February 14 from 2pm – 4pm. Hear stories about Valentine’s history and enjoy refreshments while making Victorian paper valentines (for ages 7 and up with an adult. $15 for adults, $10 for children).

On Monday 2/15, the community is invited to Leaves and Blossoms with storyteller Carolyn Stearns at 2pm to view the exhibit Our Nation’s Generations: Letters In Time, hear great stories and play family story games (free for museum members, non-members free with admission). On Tuesday, 2/16 from 9am-12pm, kids in grades 3-5 are invited Sea Storms & Shipwrecks to listen to harrowing stories of ships lost at sea and construct a ship scene diorama. (Museum members: $30, non-members: $35). Also on Tuesday, 2/16 at 1:30pm, kids in grades 5-7 will enjoy the Fabulous Fashion Accessories program where they can view fashion in the museum’s archives and sew accessories like bags, iPod or cell phone holders. (Members: $30, non-members: $35). On Wednesday, 2/17 from 10am – 11:30pm kids in grades K-2 can listen to a winter story and make clay objects in the Winter Wonder Clay program. (Members: $12, non-members: $15). Also on Wednesday 2/17, kids in grades 3-5 can Winter with American Girl Kirsten from 1:30pm – 4:30pm. Children will learn about life as a pioneer, make a warm blanket and create a snack inspired by Kirsten’s Scandinavian heritage (Members: $30, non-members: $35). On Thursday, 2/18 the museum is calling all Treasure Hunters to find the museum’s treasures with the help of a treasure map and to create a treasure of your own. (Grades K-2: 10am – 11:30am, members: $12, non-members: $15 and Grades 3-5: 1:30pm-4:30pm, members: $30, non-members: $35).

The Fairfield Museum and History Center is located at 370 Beach Road, behind Town Hall. To register for a program please call 203-259-1598. Seating is limited, pre-registration is required. Regular museum hours are Monday – Friday from 10am – 4pm and Saturdays & Sundays from noon – 4pm. The research library is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Regular museum admission for adults is $5, $3 for students, free for museum members and children age 5 and under.
