“This is an unprecedented time for our community and, as always, the safety and security of our staff and students is always our top priority. The decision to close our schools to students was neither easy nor simple,” said Dr. Tamu Lucero, superintendent Stamford Public Schools. “We took into consideration the opinions of experts in the medical field, as well as our obligation to ensure Stamford students are educated, fed and receive the special education services they need.” The district is working with staff at each building to provide materials for distance learning opportunities for all students and will be applying for a waiver from the state to count these days as school days. We will communicate directly with the parents of students who require Special Education Services regarding plans to meet their needs. Additionally, with our food service provider Chartwells, the district will be providing free grab and go meals that can be picked up for anyone in the City of Stamford age 18 and under, at any of our school buildings, beginning March 13, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. © Copyright by NorwalkPlus.com.
