Stamford, CT - Superintendent Stamford Public School (SPS) Earl Kim and the Stamford Board of Education (BOE) named Casey Cummings, assistant principal, Springdale Elementary School effective August 28, and Kathleen Kelley, interim assistant principal, Davenport Ridge Elementary School effective August 3. Cummings will replace Laura Lynam who is returning to the classroom to serve as an English Language teacher. Kelley is filling a vacancy created as the result of Kendra Brown’s appointment as interim director of Early Childhood Education.

“I am very pleased, both Casey and Kathleen bring a wealth of experience and leadership to their respective positions,” said SPS Assistant Superintendent--Elementary Dr. Tamu Lucero. “Casey has been an integral part of the Springdale community for a number of years and will be able to build on the relationships she has already forged. While Kathleen will take the skills she has honed in her time at Stillmeadow and share them with the staff and students at Davenport.”

Prior to her role as AI, Cummings was a teacher and elementary math liaison at Westover Magnet School, as well as the ELL Summer Institute head teacher and district head teacher for Secondary Summer School.

She holds a B.A. from Fairfield University, an M.A. in Teaching from Manhattanville College, an Administrator Certification from the University of Bridgeport and is currently pursuing her Doctorate of Educational Leadership.

“Springdale has a remarkable school community that has embraced me and supported my professional growth over the past three years,” said Cummings. “I am honored to be part of the Stamford Public Schools and look forward to continuing to work with such an innovative and dedicated team of staff, parents and students.”
