Norwalk, CT - The Norwalk Education Foundation (NEF) has recently been awarded a $25,000 grant from the JPMorgan Chase Foundation that will help the organization to fulfill its mission of improving education for Norwalk’s public school children through advocacy initiatives and education programs.

JPMorgan Chase’s support will help fund professional development programs and classroom grants for Norwalk teachers. NEF offers teacher training in technology directly through workshops and seminars, as well as indirectly through a program of technology liaisons at each Norwalk public school who help with the technology needs in their schools. In addition, NEF provides grants to individual teachers who offer creative, hands-on, classroom projects that reinforce the curriculum.

“As a local affiliate of the national Public Education Network, NEF is focused on bringing strategic innovations to the teachers and students in the Norwalk Public Schools,” said Troy Jellerette, a long-time Norwalk resident and a Vice President of Chase Commercial Banking in Connecticut. “Chase’s multi-year investments in the organization have led to programs that are both cost-effective and transformational at the classroom level.”

JPMorgan Chase Foundation is the philanthropic arm of JPMorgan Chase Bank that works with community-based partners in the highest-need neighborhoods and communities around the world where the company has major operations. The Foundation is predominantly focused on three areas: Community Development, Education and Arts & Culture. For more information visit www.jpmorganchase.com.

The Norwalk Education Foundation is an independent nonprofit organization.
