Batista sent a high fly just inside the foul pole down the right field line to give Bridgeport their first lead of the game. An RBI triple from Ryan Bear followed by a Jay Caligiuri RBI single accounted for the first two runs earlier in the inning, all off Long Island reliever Mike Myers (1-2). Batista (two RBIs, run, stolen base), Caligiuri (RBI, run) and Branden Florence (double, run, stolen base) all collected two hits in the contest. The Ducks scored their three runs in the fourth inning. Ray Navarrete scorched a ground ball that bounced up and hit Bluefish shortstop Alex Prieto in the shoulder, skipping into left field and allowing Juan Francia to score. Two batters later, Melvin Falu dropped a two-run single into right field to give his team the three-run edge. Seven Long Island starters recorded at least one hit, led by Jaime Pogue's two-for-four afternoon. Bluefish catcher Luis Rodriguez (1-0) made his first pitching appearance of the season and worked a scoreless eighth to pick up the win. Myers gave up all four runs on four hits in his 0.2 innings of work to suffer the loss. Matt Pike earned his second save of the season with a perfect ninth inning. From here, the Ducks head to the divisional round of the 2008 playoffs and square off against the first-half Liberty Division Champion Camden Riversharks.
