The Bridgeport Bluefish of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball announced the acquisition of outfielder Darryl Brinkley. This is Brinkley’s second stint with the Bluefish.

The 38-year old brings 15 seasons of professional experience to the Bluefish outfield including 15 different stints at the AAA level. Brinkley spent the majority of his career between AAA and the independent circuit, appearing in 1,562 games and compiling a .329 batting average entering this season. He played in 12 games with the Bluefish in 2006, going 13-56 (.232) with one home run and three RBIs. Last season with the Calgary Vipers (formerly of the Northern League), Brinkley set career marks in batting average (.399), RBIs (82), runs scored (87) and tied his personal best with 14 home runs.

Re-joining the Vipers this season (now part of the Golden League), Brinkley found himself amongst the team leaders in several offensive categories. His .351 average, 23 doubles and 30 steals led Calgary and his 108 hits and 76 runs ranked him second on the team. Brinkley also had eight home runs and 60 RBIs in 82 games this year.

The Bridgeport Bluefish Professional Baseball Club, a charter team in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, plays its home games at The Ballpark at Harbor Yard, located off Exit 27 of I-95 on the corner of Broad Street and South Frontage Road in Bridgeport. 2008 season tickets, mini-plans and group outings are available by calling 203-345-4800.
