“The Community Fund of Darien is proud to continue its partnership with B1C,” said Lisa Haas, Community Fund of Darien Grants Director. “Their mission aligns with our own goals to promote independence and economic security for immigrants through language skills, education, employment resources and legal services. These programs teach the skills needed to secure and retain employment and earn a living wage."
“This grant helps us continue and expand programs to best meet the diverse needs of our clients," said Building One Community Executive Director Catalina Horak. “Our approach is proven to help participants gain the English language and job skills that increase their employability and propel them forward on the path to self-sufficiency.”
All workforce development program participants also have access to wraparound support including legal immigration services, and case management as well as referrals for health and dental care.
Home Health Aide, Culinary & Catering Services, and Construction & Landscaping are the specialty tracks offered in the job training program. Participants are connected to jobs in these fields during and after completing their studies. These offerings provide opportunities needed by the local immigrant population to achieve economic stability and actively engage in community life. The Community Fund of Darien is committed to our mission and continues to contribute to our existing core program the success of hundreds of working poor families who will be elevated out of poverty.
