The Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection are conducting recall effectiveness checks in response to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s voluntary recall of Dive Sticks sold exclusively at Target stores nationwide from April 2008 through August 2008 for approximately $1.00. The recalled dive sticks were manufactured in China and imported by Target of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

The dive sticks were sold in a bundle of three (3) multiple colors: light blue, aqua green, fluorescent yellow, royal blue and red. Either “Dive Toys” or “Diving Game,” will be printed on the accompanying tag and a white small parts warning label is located in the upper right hand corner. “Made in China” is printed in the lower right hand corner. No injuries and/or accidents have been reported however the potential for impalement to young children is high as the dive sticks could remain in an upright position in the pool, creating the hazard.

Consumer Protection Commissioner Jerry Farrell, Jr. strongly recommends that consumers check their homes for this product and if found, immediately cease using and return this product to any Target Store for a full refund. For additional information, please call Target toll free at (800) 440-0680, Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. CT or visit their website at www.target.com .
