Closing out the season and celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Sumer Music Series, Chris Norman and David Greenberg will perform at the Silvermine Auditorium on Friday, August 1st at 8pm. Chris Norman has been hailed as one of the finest flute players of our time and David Greenberg, the best baroque violin soloists in Canada. Tickets are still available for this highly anticipated performance.
Considered two of the most imaginative and dynamic performers in traditional and early music, Norman and Greenberg join forces to present a program that runs the gamut from renaissance, baroque, traditional and original music. These two extraordinary performers have played together as sparring partners for more than a decade on the concert stage and recording studio.
"A flute player of spectacular and imaginative virtuosity," The New Yorker, Chris Norman has proven that the simple wooden flute is the original – and still unsurpassed- wood of expression, passion, joy and subtlety. His influential work as a performer, composer, recording artist and teacher has brought the wooden flute to the forefront as an alternative voice to the modern orchestral instrument. Norman’s flute playing can be heard featured in the Oscar winning soundtrack of Titanic as well as the 1998 Hollywood film, Soldier. His solo CD releases have received unanimous praise from critics and audiences alike.
As quoted by the Halifax Mail-Star, David Greenberg is “The best baroque violin soloist in Canada, if not North America." He has been lauded as "one of the most impassioned folk-fiddlers you'll ever hear" the Winnipeg Free Press. The Galleries at Silvermine will be open and refreshments provided at intermission.
Featured is the 18th Annual Silvermine School of Art Student Exhibition showcasing the works awarded for Adult, Youth and Junior Artist categories for painting, drawing, printmaking, photography, sculpture, ceramics and silversmithing/jewelry design.
Concert tickets are available at $20 for members and $25 for non-members. Student tickets are $10 for 18 years and under. For further information call (203) 966-9700, ext 22 or visit the website: www.silvermineart.org.
