Product Safety Inspectors from the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection are conducting recall effectiveness checks on retail establishments in response to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s voluntary recall of “Taggies Strollin’ Along Stroller Activity Bars”, due to a choking hazard which may occur when shiny parts on the activity bar’s elephant’s ear , detach forming the potential for choking in young children. This product was manufactured in China and imported/distributed by International Playthings Inc., of Parsippany, New Jersey.

The recalled activity bars feature a yellow giraffe, a purple hippo and a blue elephant attached to a 12 inch long base with straps that attach to the stroller. The Activity Bar is made of plastic and fabric and sold in multicolor. This recalled product has a label sewn into the seam on the lower left front of the activity bar. The logos, Taggies and Earlyears, appear on the labels.

This product was sold nationwide in specialty toy stores and on the internet, from February 2007 to July 2008 for approximately $23.00.

Consumer Protection Commissioner Jerry Farrell, Jr., strongly recommends parents check their children’s activity bars and if this recalled product is found, immediately remove from the child and contact International Playthings for a free replacement toy. For additional information, please contact International Playthings toll free at (800) 445-8347 or visit their website at www.intplay.com . Although no injuries have been reported, incidents of detachment have occurred which could potentially result in choking.
