The Stew Leonard III Children's Library of the South Norwalk Branch Library has announced its Winter Crafts program to be held in the Friends of the Norwalk Public Library Community Room on the top level of the Branch Library. All material will be supplied - some projects allow for children to bring select materials in. Children are required to read books about art and/or the program subject to give them an appreciation for the crafts. Details are listed below.

Children in grades K - 2 are invited to create reindeer ornaments on Tuesday, December 15, 2009 from 4:00 - 5:00 pm. Children may also bring the names of up to four family members and make pine cone place cards for each of them. All material will be supplied. The program is limited to 12 children and registration is required.
Children in grades 3 - 5 are invited to create door knob wreaths on Thursday, December 17, 2009 from 4:00 - 5:00 pm. Children may also bring the names of up to four family members and make pine cone place cards for each of them. All material will be supplied. The tooth fairy won't have to look under the pillow any longer. Children in grades K - 2 to create tooth fairy tooth boxes on Tuesday, January 12, 2010 from 4:00 - 5:00 pm. All material will be supplied. Children are required to read books about art, teeth and/or fairies to give them an appreciation for the craft. The program is limited to 12 children and registration is required.
Children in grades 3 - 5 are invited to create body collages on Thursday, January 14, 2010 from 4:00 - 5:00 pm. All material will be supplied; however, children may bring favorite pictures or cut-outs of favorite things to place on their collages. Children are required to read books about art and/or collages to give them an appreciation for the craft. The program is limited to 12 children and registration is required.
Children in grades K - 2 are invited to create counting number posters on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 from 4:00 - 5:00 pm. All material will be supplied; however, children may bring in paper clips, pennies, buttons or other items they may want to count from 1 - 10. Children are required to read books about art and/or numbers to give them an appreciation for the craft. The program is limited to 12 children and registration is required.
Children in grades 3 - 5 are invited to create pasta maze vases on Thursday, January 21, 2010 from 4:00 - 5:00 pm. This project will be made using modeling clay and tri-colored pasta. All material will be supplied. Children are required to read books about art and/or vases to give them an appreciation for the craft. The program is limited to 12 children and registration is required.
Children in grades K - 2 are invited to create crazy cat mats on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 from 4:00 - 5:00 pm. The 8.5 x 11 mats will be made with coffee beans, rice and dried corn. All material will be supplied. Children are required to read books about cats and or mats to give them an appreciation for the craft. The program is limited to 12 children and registration is required.
Children in grades 3 - 5 are invited to create brown bag scrapbooks on Thursday, January 28, 2010 from 4:00 - 5:00 pm. All material will be supplied, however, children should bring any items they would like to have in this keepsake booklet. Children are required to read books about scrapbooks or journals to give them an appreciation for the craft. The program is limited to 12 children and registration is required.
