A water buffalo could be used for providing milk (a great source of protein) and people could also use its power for planting rice, potatoes and other produce which would save families from hunger and provide income for medicine, clothing and school. It is estimated that a water buffalo could increase the plantation of rice about four times compared to manual cultivation. The manure could also serve as a fertilizer for the soil and as a fuel. The members of the QU Democrats Club are proud to be working with Heifer Project International in buying a water buffalo for a family in need in a poor country. This is one of the many activities that are planned by the club for the 2008-2009 academic year in Quinnipiac University, located in Hamden, CT.
