Bring your family and friends, blankets and beach chairs to enjoy an afternoon of games, races, food, shopping and fun on the historic Town Green! Try your hand at an egg toss, play water-balloon games and pick a partner for the three-legged race. Come shop for antique treasures at the museum’s outdoor ‘Garden Shed,’ and participate in a human flag, captured via aerial photo! All the while, enjoy a wide variety of delicious food from the Flying Dish food tent, offering a special value priced picnic menu consisting of sizzling Angus Burgers, signature veggie burgers, grilled hot dogs, marinated and grilled free-range chicken sandwiches, all natural rotisserie turkey wraps, classic free-range chicken Caesar salads, desserts, drinks and more. A portion of these proceeds will be donated to the museum’s educational programming. The excitement continues inside the museum, which will offer free admission for the day. Visitors to the museum will be among the first to see a new exhibit, Keep ‘Em Coming!: World War II Poster Art, showing original 1940s posters with powerful graphic designs by some of the country’s leading commercial artists, including the artwork of Norman Rockwell, Jean Carlu and Stevan Donanos. These posters mobilized a nation, making victory the personal mission of every citizen. The museum’s inaugural exhibit, Landscape of Change, will also be on view, which tells the story of Fairfield and its changing history over 350 years. Finally, the Fairfield Museum Shop, which contains a fabulous selection of home accents, is holding a ‘Red, White and Blue Sale’ and will feature the work of local artist, Greg Chinn. “The Memorial Day Parade is a wonderful tradition in our town,” said Michael Jehle, Executive Director of Fairfield Museum. “After the parade we invite the community to come play some games, have a bite to eat and enjoy an afternoon at the museum. It’s a great opportunity to relax with friends and family.” The picnic is scheduled to take place after the parade, from 12pm to 2pm at the museum, which is located at 370 Beach Road, behind Old Town Hall.
