Synergy Center Corporation, partnered with the Sea Research Foundation, is offering Synergy Socials at the Mystic Aquarium this fall beginning September 14. Synergy Socials, a one-of-a-kind social skills learning opportunity in Southeastern Connecticut, focuses on building confidence in children ages 6-13 who are challenged by social interactions.
Program participants may be diagnosed with autism, ADHD, ADD, intellectual and developmental delays, obesity and other disabilities as well as those who generally struggle in social settings. The Aquarium’s “non-school/non-clinical” environment allows children to play to learn in a variety of settings while the lessons and strategies incorporate the fun and games they enjoy. The session begins with 20 minutes of Yoga, which is used as a transition activity, followed by a 40-minute social skills activity that may focus on greetings, following directions, turn-taking, building conversation and appropriate play interactions.
The fall session of Synergy Socials begins September 14 and will be held for 10 weeks on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4-5 pm. For more information or to register, visit connectwithsynergy.com. Discounts are available for Mystic Aquarium members and consecutive class registrants.
