The Maritime Gallery at Mystic Seaport presents its 29th Annual International Marine Art Exhibition and Sale September 28 through November 16.

The Gallery will be open to the public Saturday, September 27 at 1:30 p.m. for an Artist’s Walk – an informal tour in which artists will speak about their work. The evening’s opening reception is for patrons only; those interested in becoming a patron can call 860.572.5338.

Beginning Sunday, September 28, visitors are invited to view or purchase pieces from the exhibition daily between 10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

“This exhibition and sale represents the work of artists from 14 countries around the world, including Australia, France, Germany and Ireland,” said Jeanne Potter, director of the Maritime Gallery. “For collectors and lovers of maritime art, the show truly exemplifies how the sea shapes all of our lives.”

The exhibition celebrates the timeless beauty of the sea in the most comprehensive exhibit of contemporary marine art in the nation. More than 125 new works will be on display, including sculpture, painting, scrimshaw and ship models by more than 100 noted maritime artists including Robert Dance, Donald Demers, William P. Duffy and Kent Ullberg, as well as emerging talent exhibiting at the Maritime Gallery for the first time.

Eight prestigious named awards and five awards of excellence—including the Stobart Foundation Award, which recognizes the work that best represents unique style, quality of light and atmosphere—will be given by three invited judges.
