The tournament was established as a recreational outing that reflects an imperative by the money management community to provide vital resources to assist those whose lives have been affected by cancer. Cindy Citrone of Southport, co-chair of the tournament with her husband Rob and Len Amato of Fairfield, said: the day provided “a great opportunity to give something back. We’ve had a great response and we expect the tournament to grow with the years.” Amato was a member of the team that won the low net—with Brendan Walsh and Dirk Van Welie of Cap Cana in the Dominican Republic which donated a number of getaway prizes for the tournament’s auctions.
Herb Williams, former New York Knicks coach, was among the celebrity guests. Discovery Capital was the title sponsor and S3 Partners the cart sponsor. Among the list of other sponsors are some of the leading firms in the investment trade: Autonomy Capital Research, Fortress Management, Fox Point Capital Management, GE Money, Goldman Sachs, JPMorgan, Lehman Brothers, Merrill Lynch, Shumway Capital Partners and Tudor Investment Corporation.
