A joint investigation conducted by Department of Consumer Protection liquor control agents and officers of the New Haven Police Department has resulted in two dozen charges against a New Haven club, Consumer Protection Commissioner Jerry Farrell, Jr. announced today.
On the evening of Thursday, October 30th, undercover agents from the Department’s Liquor Control Division observed many instances of underage drinking at Hammer Jaks Club, located at 201 Crown Street in New Haven.
As a result of those observations, New Haven police officers and liquor control agents entered Hammer Jaks at approximately 10:30 p.m. to conduct a full inspection of the premises.
“The outcome of our investigation and inspection is that we are charging Hammer Jaks with 24 counts of sale or delivery of alcoholic liquor to minors and referring the case to the Liquor Control Commission for administrative action,” Farrell said. “If these allegations are proven true, I am greatly distressed by the large number of instances of underage drinking at this bar. I’d like to thank Chief Lewis and the men and women of the New Haven Police Department for partnering with us on this effort and for their continued support to reduce underage access to liquor.”
