Governor M. Jodi Rell today said Connecticut residents have until Wednesday, October 15 to file the necessary paperwork with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to receive a federal stimulus payment this year.

According to the IRS, an estimated 4.3 million retirees and disabled veterans who normally do not file tax returns may miss out on the payments if they do not file federal Form 1040A by October 15.

“I do not want to see any Connecticut residents miss out on the chance to get a stimulus payment this year,” Governor Rell said. “There is still time for state residents to take advantage of this opportunity to get a little more cash. I encourage anyone who believes they qualify for a stimulus payment but have not received one to visit the IRS website today or call their local IRS office for more information.”

Payments of up to $600 per individual ($1,200 for married couples and $300 for each qualifying child) have resulted in more than $93 billion in disbursements to 114.8 million individuals and families across the country.
