Consumer Protection Commissioner Jerry Farrell, Jr. is praising the outcome of the most recent alcohol compliance check conducted by his agency in the towns of Chester, Old Lyme, and Deep River. Of the nine (9) locations tested for compliance, no permitted premise failed. All stores were found to be in compliance.
“Residents of these towns benefit from the vigilance of their local liquor retailers, who ask the right questions when confronted by underage kids looking to buy liquor, and who are doing whatever it takes to avoid selling alcohol to minors,” Commissioner Farrell said. “We’re delighted that 100% of the stores passed the compliance check. I also want to commend the Resident Troopers for their continued support and assistance in these compliance checks.”
The undercover operation took place on Saturday, November 29th as a joint effort among agents from the Department of Consumer Protection Liquor Control Division, Resident Troopers for Chester, Old Lyme, and Deep River and two volunteer minors, aged 17 and 18, provided by the Governor’s Prevention Partnership.
“Our objective in these routine checks is to find stores that are selling to minors and remind them of their responsibility to fully comply with state law,” Farrell said.
The nine stores being praised for their success in passing the compliance check are:
• A & P Super Foodmart, 90 Halls Road, Old Lyme
• A & P Wines and Spirits, 28-A Halls Road, Old Lyme
• Rooney’s Package Store, 268 Shore Road, Old Lyme
• Rogers Lake Liquor Shoppe, 183 Boston Post Road, Old Lyme
• Cherrystones Restaurant, 218 Shore Road, Old Lyme
• Hideaway Restaurant and Pub, 19 Halls Road, Old Lyme
• Clam’s, 100 Shore Road, Old Lyme
• Ivory Pub, 1 Kirktland Street, Deep River
