“We have sent one aircraft, two more are scheduled to leave and a third is on standby,” Governor Rell said. “The Connecticut National Guard stands ready to help our fellow Americans safely weather this latest storm.” The Governor said a C-21 aircraft, which operates as a cargo and passenger plane, flew to Texas on Thursday and has been shuttling people to Austin, Texas. That aircraft is scheduled to return to the base at Bradley International Airport tonight. Another C-21 will leave Bradley sometime tomorrow morning. A smaller cargo plane, the C-23 Sherpa, is scheduled to leave Groton later tomorrow morning for operations in Gulfport, Texas. A third C-21 remains on standby out of Bradley. The response for help comes two weeks after the Connecticut National Guard sent aircraft to Louisiana in assist with Hurricane Gustav. “The well-trained Connecticut National Guard has shown time and again they can be counted on to respond quickly and professionally in times of need,” Governor Rell said. © Copyright by NorwalkPlus.com.
