Westport, CT – Positive Directions – The Center for Prevention and Counseling, celebrated its new office opening at 90 Post Road West with an Open House and Ribbon Cutting alongside First Selectman Jim Marpe and the Westport Weston Chamber of Commerce on January 24th. Leaders from all over Fairfield County showed up to lend their support, including State Representative Gail Lavielle, State Representative Cristen McCarthy Vahey, State Representative Caroline Simmons, First Selectman of Westport James Marpe and Mayor Harry Rilling of Norwalk.

The agency has been offering its clinical counseling services at its new location since the Summer, but decided to hold off celebrating its new space until new Executive Director Jennifer Hrbek was on board. Hrbek enthusiastically welcomed members of the community to come in not only to see the new office space, but to meet and mingle with members of the Staff and Board of Directors. “I want the community to know our incredible team of clinicians and prevention experts so that they can be astutely aware of who to contact for help during times of need – whether that be seeking mental health or substance abuse treatment with a licensed clinician or learning how to get involved with grassroots prevention work to fight the opioid crisis.”

Elaine Daignault, Director of the Department of Human Services for the Town of Westport added: “The Town of Westport has a long history of collaboration with Positive Directions and we are very excited to join them in their new chapter as we work together to support the health and wellness of our town. The Town’s newest partnership with Positive Directions seeks to expand our reach beyond youth substance abuse prevention to address the needs of residents across the age span. Between their vast knowledge of the State of CT’s Strategic Prevention Framework and their clinical team, Westport is very fortunate to have such an engaging and dedicated group of professionals as partners. Their grand opening event brought together many extraordinary Westporters which is a testament to Positive Directions’ history and importance in our community.”

Positive Directions is on most insurance panels and offers a sliding scale for those who cannot afford the out of pocket expense of counseling sessions. Features of the new space include bright sunlit offices, handicap accessibility and a private spacious parking lot.
