A three-under-par 69 gave the Lexus foursome of Ty Cronin, Troy O’Sullivan, Jim O’Sullivan and Tom Lynch the low gross in the 18th Annual Golf Invitational of CancerCare of Connecticut at Wee Burn Country Club, a tournament that drew a full field of 104 and raised more than $60,000 for the nonprofit resource for cancer patients and their families.
The low net was a 58 by the team of Len Amato, Rob Lia, Ollie O’Neill and Bill Sapione. Amato is president of the board of CancerCare of Connecticut and Lia is a member of the board.
David Caslin and Belinda Barbieri hit the longest drives for men and women, respectively, and the closest-to-the-pin award went to Kevin Connors.
Dave Cole and John DeMelis were co-chairmen of the tournament. Cole carries a 5-handicap at The Patterson Club in Fairfield and says the fundraiser occupies a special niche because the proceeds uniquely furnish support and counseling as a critical extension to physical treatment and research against a disease that touches virtually all of our lives.

Two places in the Pebble Beach Tournament of Champions--provided by Lexus of Greenwich—were won at auction by Kurt Thompson for the second consecutive year.
They offer the opportunity to play on three of the most celebrated and picturesque golf courses in the U.S.—Pebble Beach, Spyglass Hill and Spanish Bay. A brand new Lexus RX 330 and a charity purse of $100,000 are up for competition.
Funds raised were generated by the tournament entry fee and a post-golf auction that offered every thing from a Wade Boggs autographed baseball journey (won by Bryan Borgia) to a Rolex watch (won by John Witkin).
At the Wee Burn C.C., FactSet Research Systems was the title sponsor for the tournament. Quest Diagnostics was a supporter as Ace Sponsor. Coty and Ernest & Young were Eagle sponsors with FujiMed a Birdie Sponsor.
