Don Coqui, an authentic Puerto Rican restaurant in New Rochelle, will be joining forces with BronxNet’s very own TV personality Baron Ambrosia and legendary percussionist, Papo Pepin, and his orchestra, Yimbaraco, to host an event to raise money for Doctors Without Borders in Haiti. The event will take place on March 11, 2010 from 7 pm to 1 am.
“Don Coqui is thrilled to partner with Baron Ambrosia and Papo Pepin and his orchestra to host this event and raise money for an important organization like Doctors Without Borders,” said Jimmy Rodriguez, Creative Director of Don Coqui. “We strongly believe in Doctors Without Borders’ mission and as Puerto Ricans, we are happy to do anything we can to aid in rebuilding our island neighbor to the west and help Haiti get back on its feet.”
The master of ceremonies, Baron Ambrosia, will screen a segment from one of his popular “Bronx Flavor” episodes, which sheds light on one of the oldest religions of Haiti and its native food. In addition, Papo Pepin and Yimbaraco will be performing their palladium style mambo throughout the evening.
Don Coqui’s Executive Chef, Chef Stephanie, will showcase her culinary talent during the evening with an exciting hands-on demonstration. Attendees will be treated to a complementary buffet and sangria.
Tickets are a $20 minimum donation, and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to Doctors Without Borders. BRONXNET will be covering the event for future broadcast.
Don Coqui is located at 115 Cedar Street in New Rochelle, NY. For more information on Don Coqui, visit www.doncoqui.com or “Friend” Don Coqui on Facebook.
