The au pairs, currently living with families in Westport, joined over two-hundred of their peers from the tri-state area for a crash course in local geography and history. Together representing countries such as Australia, Germany, Sweden, Poland, Mexico, Colombia, Thailand, Panama, Belgium, Norway, Finland, the au pairs are currently all living with American host families as part of Cultural Care Au Pair’s cultural exchange and childcare program. The face-paced two hour scavenger hunt was a team event; the winning team decided by a final tally of odds and ends and correct trivia questions. “I have always felt that the best way to orient yourself in a new place is to grab a map and hit the ground running!” said Kris Seymour, local childcare coordinator for Cultural Care Au Pair. “The au pairs learned some U.S. and state history, they visited some local businesses, and hopefully they realized how lucky they are to live in such a friendly city.
