Blumenthal also questioned why neighbors were not informed until a week after Pollitt allegedly violated his probation by leaving the yard of the home where he lives. He called for an investigation into the time lag in informing neighbors and into allegations by Pollitt’s family that his GPS device has repeatedly malfunctioned. “I am writing to urge that David Pollitt’s probation be revoked, and that he be returned to prison immediately if in fact he has violated the terms of the probation,” Blumenthal wrote. “Given the facts as reported in the press, Mr. Pollitt seems to have violated the carefully crafted terms of probation confining him to his sister’s house by straying beyond the yard immediately surrounding it. “He contends apparently that the GPS tracking device malfunctioned. The GPS contractor has denied Mr. Pollitt’s contention in published reports. Very importantly, a judge found probable cause of a probation violation to authorize Mr. Pollitt’s arrest. “One serious question raised by the reported facts is why neighbors and others were alerted only after the arrest, fully a week after the potential danger. These issues and claims that the GPS previously malfunctioned -- allegedly on five occasions -- should be investigated separately. “As you know, at the time of Mr. Pollitt’s release I urged that he be confined in an in-patient treatment center or specialized halfway house for sex offenders, rather than the current residence. I have advocated legislation and resources to provide for such facilities.” © Copyright by NorwalkPlus.com.
