Adventure traveler and tour guide John Sarbo to present “The Dolomites”
John Sarbo
An Appalachian Mountain Club Meeting in Bethel on Tuesday April 8

The Dolomites of Northern Italy are a region rich in culture and tradition. The Dolomites, an extension of the Alps, contains 14 distinct mountain massifs, 7,000 miles of trails, 1500 unique wildflowers, excellent local cuisine and regional cultures that vary from valley to valley. They are a spectacular place to hike, mountain bike ride, paraglide, rock climb or via farata. John Sarbo’s audio-visual tour will include the cultural center of the Dolomites, Val Gardena. Encompassing the three villages of Selva, St Christina and Ortisi, Val Gardena is quaint, majestic and homey all at once, with wonderful wooden carvings of religious subjects and scenes from daily life. Val Gardena is also home to many impressive mountain massifs.

New Canaan born John founded his tour company Beyond Limits in 2000 out of his love of adventure travel and his desire to share unique destinations and exciting parts of the world with those who seek them. John has traveled through Europe, North and South America, Iceland and the Middle East. His trekking and climbing adventures have led him to the Alps, Andes, Cascades, Rockies and the Himalayas, to name a few. John now lives in Salt Lake City and enjoys climbing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, mountain biking and hiking in the nearby Wasatch and Uinta Mountains.
