First Annual Costume Parade for Pets and People

Adopt-A-Dog, Inc., a local non-profit rescue, shelter and adoption agency dedicated to finding good homes for adoptable dogs and cats, and Pet Pantry Warehouse, the leading pet supply store in Greenwich, proudly announce the first ever Howl & Prowl, a parade and costume contest for people and their pets. The event takes place on Saturday, October 25 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm rain or shine. Costumed pets and their owners will gather at the starting line at Greenwich Town Hall and proceed along Greenwich Avenue, ending at Pet Pantry Warehouse at 290 Railroad Avenue where the judging for the costume contest will take place and refreshments will be served.

Participation in the parade is free. The pre-registration fee for entry in the costume contest is $20 per person or $35 per family until October 10th, after which the fee will be $30 per person and $45 per family. All proceeds will go to support Adopt-A-Dog’s programs. Registration forms will be available at Pet Pantry Warehouse stores in Greenwich and Rye, on Pet Pantry’s web site at www.ppwpet.com and on Adopt-A-Dog’s web site at www.adoptadog.org.

There are four categories for prizes in the costume contest: Most Creative; Most Unusual; Scariest; Cutest; plus a Grand Prize for Best All-Around. Pet costumes will be on sale at Pet Pantry Warehouse for a month prior to the event. Select businesses along the parade route will have trick-or-treat items available for participants. A professional pet photographer will be available from whom participants may purchase a souvenir photograph of themselves with their pets.

Allyson Halm, president of Adopt-A-Dog, exclaimed, “We are happy to collaborate with Pet Pantry Warehouse to make this a fun-filled event for people in the area to enjoy an afternoon out with their companion animals. We look forward to this becoming an annual event that will be a unique attraction for Greenwich and the surrounding areas.”

Ari Jacobson of Pet Pantry remarked, “We take pride in helping local pet rescue efforts and shelters. We hope to host a large crowd to support Adopt-A-Dog in its continued effort to find loving homes for dogs and cats.”
