This year’s walk is being dedicated to the memory of Dave Waddington who passed away earlier this year. Once restaurant rivals, Fred and Dave (originator of Dad’s restaurant in Niantic) were always friends. Dave’s enthusiasm and organizational skills were instrumental in helping to get “Walk with Fred” off the ground and running. In 2004, Dave, who was also known as “Mr. Magic”, generously donated his time to stage a show to help raise money for Parkinson’s research. Fred’s retirement was accelerated by the problems that come to those afflicted with Parkinson’s disease. Diagnosed over ten years ago, Fred found it increasingly difficult to cope with the physical demands of his business. However, he is fully committed to raise money to fund Parkinson’s research. For several years he participated in clinical trials at IND and is proud to have served on the Board of Directors for the past five years. IND is a 501(c)(3) organization and donations are tax deductible. The walk-a-thon plays an important role in the fight for a cure. Fred’s walks have raised over $150,000 for Parkinson research and Fred wants to continue that tradition in 2008. Sponsorships are available at many levels. Fred hopes you can help by joining him at the walk or donate to the cause. For more information, please contact Fred Poulos at 860-477-1934 or visit www.indd.org. © Copyright by NorwalkPlus.com.
