The Women’s Business Development Center has officially declared May as Women Owned Business Month throughout the state of Connecticut in celebration of their 10th anniversary and the more than 120,000 women owned businesses in the state.

The WBDC is offering women owned businesses the opportunity to honor their decade of success along with the WBDC. WBDC is inviting every WOB in Connecticut to get involved and get exposure by offering a sales promotion or event during the month of May. The WBDC website will serve as the centerpiece to communicate and promote all women owned businesses throughout Connecticut.

WBDC will list your business and/or link to your website on its website. Your special offer will be listed. These promotions and events will be promoted on WBDC’s website via a daily calendar and with weekly emails. A comprehensive public relations, advertising and outreach campaign has been created to drive people to the WBDC website. Strategic alliances with collaborators throughout the state will also occur to ensure all women owned businesses are aware of the promotions.

If you are interested in celebrating a decade of the WBDC and want to gain access to potential customers through the WBDC, log on to www.ctwbdc.org and complete a simple form. There is no charge for participants. The deadline for submitting special events and offers to be posted on the WBDC website is April 27, 2007.

“To commemorate reaching the milestone of the WBDC’s 10th anniversary, our goal is connect and showcase women owned businesses throughout Connecticut by offering events and special values,” states Fran Pastore, President and CEO, Women’s Business Development Center. “We urge all women business owners to participate and anticipate a very rewarding response to this unique opportunity to showcase them during the month of May.”

The Women’s Business Development Center (WBDC) is a nonprofit organization established in 1997 that promotes economic development through entrepreneurship by delivering high-quality and low cost programs for women and men at every stage of business and professional development. The WBDC can be reached at 203-353-1750 or via email at info@ctwbdc.org. The WBDC has training facilities in Stamford, New Haven, Norwalk and Bridgeport.
