Voting has begun for the first Stamford Plus magazine's Best of Stamford and Norwalk Plus magazine's Best of Norwalk awards

Forget the primaries. At least for now. Voting has already begun in Stamford and Norwalk for Stamford Plus magazine’s Best of Stamford and Norwalk Plus magazine’s Best of Norwalk 2008 awards.

Canaiden LLC, the publisher of the two magazines, opened the polls online at bestofstamford.com and bestofnorwalk.com and will keep them open until Super Tuesday—February 5, 2008.

The awards will be announced in the Spring 2008 issues of Stamford Plus and Norwalk Plus magazines, which will go on sale on March 1, 2008. They will also be available online.

Readers can nominate their local favorites in more than 50 different categories, organized in eight groups: food, nightlife, arts, education, health, hospitality, retail and real estate. Additionally, voters can also write-in an entry, as well as a category, for the editors’ consideration.

Eligible for the nomination of Best of Stamford entities include any businesses that are located or operating in the Greater Stamford area, which includes Stamford, Greenwich, Darien and New Canaan.

For a business to be eligible for a Best of Norwalk nomination, it needs to be located or operating in the Greater Norwalk area, which includes Norwalk, Wilton, Westport and Fairfield.

Out-of-area businesses are also eligible to be nominated to receive the coveted award. Recognizing the diverse and open-minded nature of local residents, the editors of Stamford Plus and Norwalk Plus magazines allow write-in entries for businesses, not physically located in the area, but are exceeding the expectations and capturing the hearts of local consumers.
