Norwalk Community College grads have transferred to some of the nation’s top schools, including Cornell, Georgetown, Smith College, NYU and Yale. NCC has announced the new L.E.A.P. scholarship program, which provides financial assistance to top scholars who have been accepted to selective four-year colleges and universities. Financial Help to Go Further While most NCC scholarships assist students while they are attending NCC, the L.E.A.P Program helps them make the leap to further education. With the rising cost of education, their obstacle to further education is financial, rather than academic. In addition, many NCC students are working adults, who struggle with paying for their own education versus saving for their children’s education. Funded by the Norwalk Community College Foundation, this new scholarship is part of the L.E.A.P. Program at NCC, a comprehensive advising and support initiative which stands for Leadership Development, Educational Transfer, Advising and Preparation—the four major components of the program. Services provided by the L.E.A.P. Program include transfer counseling, assistance with essay preparation, personal interview techniques, and leadership development workshops. NCC has currently identified more than 65 students who are graduating and planning to transfer to a four-year college or university for the Fall ’08 semester. All are eligible to apply for the transfer scholarship. For more information about the L.E.A.P. Program or the L.E.A.P. Transfer Scholarship at NCC, contact Matt Longcore, Assistant Director of Admissions, at (203) 857-7265. © Copyright by NorwalkPlus.com.
